Two ways to get started
There are two ways to start using CodeYam with your AI agents. Neither is the advanced version of the other, and which one you want depends mostly on how you already work.
Get started with CodeYam using the Claude Desktop extension, or install the CLI to use CodeYam with Claude Code and other AI agents.
If an install goes wrong, start here:

If you are a Claude Desktop user, this is the one to take. It works especially well for people who are not developers, or who are newer to using AI. You download what is called the MCPB, which is a desktop extension for Claude. MCPB stands for model context protocol bundle.
For this route you need the Claude Desktop app, logged in to your account, and that account needs access to a tool called Claude Code. At this point Claude Code is available on pretty much any paid subscription. The CLI route below does not need the Claude Desktop app.
The other way in works with Claude as your agent or with other agents. It is a little more technical, but developers and non-developers alike can install it. You install what is called a CLI, a command line interface tool, in your terminal.
This differs slightly between Mac and Windows. On a Mac you open Terminal, create or navigate to a project folder, or just run it in the root directory. Then you run the install command, and a series of prompts walks you through getting set up.
There are pre-baked prompts at codeyam.com/prompts that walk through debugging an install, written mainly for CLI users. You can also just ask Claude wherever you already are: in the Claude Desktop app, ask it there, or in a terminal launch Claude Code and ask it to help you install CodeYam. If you are still stuck, the team is on Discord.
